| Improper Privilege Management vulnerability in Favethemes Houzez Login Register allows Privilege Escalation. This issue affects Houzez Login Register: from n/a through 2.6.3. |
| Chef InSpec versions up to 5.23 and before 7.0.107 creates named pipes with overly permissive default Windows access controls. A local attacker may interfere with the pipe connection process and exploit the insufficient access restrictions to assume the InSpec execution context, potentially resulting in elevated privileges or operational disruption.
This issue affects Chef Inspec: through 5.23 and before 7.0.107 |
| Planting a custom configuration file
in
ESET Inspect Connector allow load a malicious DLL. |
| theshit is a command-line utility that automatically detects and fixes common mistakes in shell commands. Prior to version 0.1.1, the application loads custom Python rules and configuration files from user-writable locations (e.g., `~/.config/theshit/`) without validating ownership or permissions when executed with elevated privileges. If the tool is invoked with `sudo` or otherwise runs with an effective UID of root, it continues to trust configuration files originating from the unprivileged user's environment. This allows a local attacker to inject arbitrary Python code via a malicious rule or configuration file, which is then executed with root privileges. Any system where this tool is executed with elevated privileges is affected. In environments where the tool is permitted to run via `sudo` without a password (`NOPASSWD`), a local unprivileged user can escalate privileges to root without additional interaction. The issue has been fixed in version 0.1.1. The patch introduces strict ownership and permission checks for all configuration files and custom rules. The application now enforces that rules are only loaded if they are owned by the effective user executing the tool. When executed with elevated privileges (`EUID=0`), the application refuses to load any files that are not owned by root or that are writable by non-root users. When executed as a non-root user, it similarly refuses to load rules owned by other users. This prevents both vertical and horizontal privilege escalation via execution of untrusted code. If upgrading is not possible, users should avoid executing the application with `sudo` or as the root user. As a temporary mitigation, ensure that directories containing custom rules and configuration files are owned by root and are not writable by non-root users. Administrators may also audit existing custom rules before running the tool with elevated privileges. |
| Improper Privilege Management in uvdesk/community-skeleton |
| Malwarebytes AdwCleaner before v.8.7.0 runs as Administrator and performs an insecure log file delete operation in which the target location is user-controllable, allowing a non-admin user to escalate privileges to SYSTEM via a symbolic link, a related issue to CVE-2023-28892. To exploit this, an attacker must create a file in a given folder path and intercept the application log file deletion flow. |
| The Homey Login Register plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation in all versions up to, and including, 2.4.0. This is due to the plugin allowing users who are registering new accounts to set their own role. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to gain elevated privileges by creating an account with the administrator role. |
| Improper Privilege Management vulnerability in ZTE ElasticNet UME R32 on Linux allows Accessing Functionality Not Properly Constrained by ACLs.This issue affects ElasticNet UME R32: ElasticNet_UME_R32_V16.23.20.04. |
| Improper Privilege Management vulnerability in Booking Ultra Pro allows Privilege Escalation. This issue affects Booking Ultra Pro: from n/a through 1.1.12. |
| Improper privilege management vulnerability in Lunar software that affects versions 6.0.2 through 6.6.0. This vulnerability allows an attacker to perform a secondary process injection into the Lunar application and abuse those rights to access sensitive user information. |
| Hw64.sys in Marvin Test HW.exe before 5.0.5.0 allows unprivileged user-mode processes to arbitrarily map physical memory via IOCTL 0x9c406490 (for IoAllocateMdl, MmBuildMdlForNonPagedPool, and MmMapLockedPages), leading to NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM privilege escalation. |
| Qlik Sense Enterprise for Windows before 14.187.4 allows a remote attacker to elevate their privilege due to improper validation. The attacker can elevate their privilege to the internal system role, which allows them to execute commands on the server. This affects February 2024 Patch 3 (14.173.3 through 14.173.7), November 2023 Patch 8 (14.159.4 through 14.159.13), August 2023 Patch 13 (14.139.3 through 14.139.20), May 2023 Patch 15 (14.129.3 through 14.129.22), February 2023 Patch 13 (14.113.1 through 14.113.18), November 2022 Patch 13 (14.97.2 through 14.97.18), August 2022 Patch 16 (14.78.3 through 14.78.23), and May 2022 Patch 17 (14.67.7 through 14.67.31). This has been fixed in May 2024 (14.187.4), February 2024 Patch 4 (14.173.8), November 2023 Patch 9 (14.159.14), August 2023 Patch 14 (14.139.21), May 2023 Patch 16 (14.129.23), February 2023 Patch 14 (14.113.19), November 2022 Patch 14 (14.97.19), August 2022 Patch 17 (14.78.25), and May 2022 Patch 18 (14.67.34). |
| Swissphone DiCal-RED 4009 devices allow a remote attacker to gain access to the administrative web interface via the device password's hash value, without knowing the actual device password. |
| The RupsMon.exe service executable in UPSilon 2000 has insecure permissions, allowing the 'Everyone' group Full Control. A local attacker can replace the executable with a malicious binary to execute code with SYSTEM privileges or simply change the config path of the service to a command; starting and stopping the service to immediately achieve code execution and privilege escalation |
| CMService.exe creates the C:\\usr directory and subdirectories with insecure permissions, granting write access to all authenticated users. This allows attackers to replace configuration files (such as snmp.conf) or hijack DLLs to escalate privileges. |
| An issue in AdGuardHome v0.93 to latest allows unprivileged attackers to escalate privileges via overwriting the AdGuardHome binary. |
